Four Thieves Vinegar is a potion with some serious history! Today, it is used to ward off negative influences, defeat the ill intentions of enemies, and protect from disease. Use it in Witch Bottles, (see my Witch Bottle article) or in the Freeze-Out Spell, or any such spell to minimize whatever is bothering you.
The legend is that it was invented by the mother of Four Thieves to use a protection from the Plague as they looted the homes and possessions of victims of the Plague. Maybe it is the garlic in it that repelled the fleas. Supposedly, the thieves were finally apprehended and tried for their looting, but were ultimately given their lives in exchange for the Four Thieves Vinegar formula. What a perfect legend to befit a powerful potion!
There are many many versions of this potion. Mine uses Four Herbs, one for each of the Four Thieves, steeped in Apple Cider Vinegar from one Dark Moon to the next.
