Epona is a Celtic goddess of horses and all draft animals, who was adopted by Roman soldiers as they colonized Gaul. She is the only Celtic deity to have been adopted into the Roman pantheon, and from there her worship spread throughout southern Europe.
In addition to being protector of equine animals, Epona was a goddess of sovereignty, a kingmaker. While horses have a warlike correspondence because of their use in military might, Epona also has gentler powers of abundance and fertility. She is often depicted with a Cornucopia. This oil dedicated to her is earthy, sweet and voluptuous. Any horse-loving woman would love this oil!
