Saint or Archangel, Michael is a powerful protector, wielding his fiery sword. He is defender of the weak, especially children. This traditional formula is sometimes also known as “Fiery Wall of Protection.”

Michael is a Hebrew, Christian and Islamic Archangel. His roles are very complex and his legends and attributions are myriad. In Hebrew traditions he is field commander of Yahweh’s armies, the special advocate and protector of the Jews and Israel, teacher of Moses, and one of the main enemies of the “Fallen Angels,” (Angels who loved and married mortal/human women.) The Book of Enoch lends to this tradition, and it is in the Book of Enoch that Michael is identified in the company of and in alliance with the other four well-known archangels, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, and Suriel.

Christians regard Michael both as an archangel and as a saint. He became a patron of healing, and his powers are attributed to a number of sacred healing springs and wells. In this aspect his fiery/solar nature very much resembles Apollo.

Michael is also a psychopomp who appears to the dead and dying to convey them to the gates of heaven; he also gives dying sinners the opportunity to repent before being carried on his scales of judgment to their place in the hereafter.

Many who are in service as military, police, rescue, and other such callings regard Michael as their special patron.

Michaelmas is on September 29th, and is the feast day of Saint Michael and the holiday of Archangel Michael.

Perhaps of most interest to practitioners of magic and ceremonial arts is the correspondences of the Archangels with the directions and elements. Raphael channels Air in the East, Michael guards Fire in the South, Gabriel brings Water in the West, and Uriel governs Earth in the North. The Archangels in turn rule over the Elemental Kings, Paralda (Air), Djinn (Fire), Nixsa (Water) and Ghobe (Earth).

Michael oil by Natural Magick Shop is often used in defense against the dark arts, to protect children and the weak or ill. It is powerfully Solar in nature, and smells warm, glowing and comforting, and contains true Carnation absolute. It is made on Sundays or Tuesdays during the Waxing Moon.

My versions of these devotional oils are also designed to be harmonious to use with the corresponding Elemental Kings oils. In this system, Raphael is the Angelic higher power of Paralda, the Elemental King of Air, Michael is the rarified energy of Djinn, the King of Fire, Gabriel is the higher octave of Nixsa, the Elemental Water King, and Uriel is the exalted ruler of Ghobe, King of the Earth element.

Natural Magick Spirit Guide oils are made with reverence and research to be pleasing devotional blends for the animals or beings they are named for. I research legend and lore, and try to use oils of plants that represent the guide, what it does and what it smells like. The Natural Magick process of using planetary and elemental influences, correspondence, and high quality ingredients is especially appropriate for invoking the nature of your guide.

Spirit Guide oils are not made as fakey perfumes with marketable names. Fox really does smell wild and clever, Bear is somber and impressive, Angel is ethereal and bright, Dragon smells like smoke and scales.

Anoint yourself to attune to your totem, or pour into offering bowls or aromatherapy lamps, or anoint statues or fetish objects. These oils are in beautiful round 1/2 ounce bottles, blended in 100% coconut and/or jojoba oil, so with any care they should last a very long time. They are priced according to the ingredients most resembling the guide so named.
