Medusa oil is dedicated to this most mysterious Goddess of snakes, the Underworld and ancient women's secrets.

Please put away your Edith Hamilton's Mythology book for now. The execution of Medusa by Perseus with the aid of Athena has all the hallmarks of a politically motivated patriarchal rewrite. Supposedly, Athena betrays Medusa by giving Perseus either a mirror or her shield, so that he can avoid Medusa's deadly gaze which turns men into stone. Using the reflection, he is able to break and enter into Medusa's cave, and behead the goddess of the snaky hair. The head is then implanted on Athena's shield as evidence of her conquering the underworld goddess.

However, older versions of Athena identify her as an African goddess (perhaps with dreads) and one and the same with Medusa. She had Medusa on her shield long before Perseus. Snakes are associated with early cults of women's oracular powers, and here we have a scary goddess with snakes coming out of her head. That makes Medusa a keeper of women's knowledge, there in her cave, guarded by her Gorgon sisters. Men are not allowed into this cave, perhaps to avoid the taboo of looking upon women who were menstruating. The newer patriarchal Olympian gods are not happy with this situation so they rewrite Athena as being born from the head of Zeus, and they have her betray her own chthonic self as evidence of her fealty to the Olympian gods. This also conveniently explains why the Medusa is on Athena's shield.

Natural Magick returns the head of Medusa to her body, and gives her oil an underground, mysterious snaky smell. The mirror is really a tool of the Medusa allowing us to see into our own dark Mysteries.

Natural Magick deity oils are made with reverence and research to be pleasing devotional blends for the gods and goddesses they are named for. I research legend and lore, and try to use oils of plants that grew in the lands where the deity originated or rules. The Natural Magick process of using planetary and elemental influences, correspondence, and high quality ingredients is especially appropriate for honoring the gods and bringing their qualities into our lives.

Anoint yourself to attune to these deities, or pour into offering bowls or aromatherapy lamps, or anoint statues or fetish objects. I love to give them to priests or priestesses who run open circles or invoke our patron gods and goddesses.

These oils are in beautiful round 1/3 ounce bottles, blended in 100% Coconut and/or Jojoba oil, so with any care they should last a very long time. They are priced according to the ingredients requested by the gods.
