Lucifer is a complex god with many contradictory mythologies. Literally, his name means “the bringer of light,” in Latin, properly referring to the Morning Star (Venus) which announces the coming of dawn. He is said to have been one of God’s great angels who through the sin of pride, was cast from Heaven by God or who fell from grace to Earth, and then into the center of Earth. In later Christian mythologies this would have been geographically identified with the pits of hell. Other Hebrew mythologies identify the pits of Helel as the vagina of the world, and the suggested metaphor being Lucifer as a lightening bolt or meteor strike (falling star) which fertilizes the Earth to produce life. Only later was he identified with the Sun itself (otherwise he would have to be seen as a rival to the Solar inseminating principle) and even later conflated with Satan. Lucifer is also much related to the Greek Prometheus, another beloved rebel god.

Lucifer holds a special place in my own Faery spirituality tradition because according to many Irish/Celtic stories, he is said to have brought the Faeries to Earth as he fell from the sky. Those sky born who chose to remain heavenly became angels, and the Fey that came with him became Faeries of the Earth, Air, Sky and Waters, depending on where they landed. This makes Lucifer the leader or father of all the Fae.

My Lucifer oil tries to pay homage to these diverse legends. Blue Tansy makes it dark midnight blue for the night sky he came from, and bright fiery essential oils capture the meteoric energy of his Great Fall. Seven ingredients relate Lucifer oil to Venus, the Morning and Evening Star.

Natural Magick deity oils are made with reverence and research to be pleasing devotional blends for the gods and goddesses they are named for. I research legend and lore, and try to use oils of plants that grew in the lands where the deity originated or rules. The Natural Magick process of using planetary and elemental influences, correspondence, and high quality ingredients is especially appropriate for honoring the gods and bringing their qualities into our lives.

Anoint yourself to attune to these deities, or pour into offering bowls or aromatherapy lamps, or anoint statues or fetish objects. I love to give them to priests or priestesses who run open circles or invoke our patron gods and goddesses.

These oils are in beautiful round 1/2 ounce bottles, blended in 100% jojoba and/or coconut oil, so with any care they should last a very long time. They are priced according to the ingredients requested by the gods.
